Description:
The Student Technical Session and Poster Session Awards recognize exceptional research presented by undergraduate/graduate students in diverse categories.
Goal:
To promote student research and best practice analyses presented through both poster sessions and technical seminars to educate professionals on up-to-date methods for therapy implementation and practice.
Objectives:
1. For two technical sessions (one undergraduate and one graduate student) to be recognized for outstanding contributions to the field each year.
2. For two poster sessions (one undergraduate and one graduate student) to be recognized for outstanding contributions to the field each year.
3. For one poster session with a focus on cultural competency to be recognized for outstanding contributions in the field each year.
Nomination Process:
Students from each university in Missouri with an on-ground Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology program are permitted to respond to the call for papers requesting student technical sessions and poster sessions. The MSHA Conference Planning Team (CPT) selects posters and sessions based on the criteria set for convention.

Student Session & Research Awards:
• Outstanding Undergraduate Student Poster Session award certificate and monetary award
• Outstanding Graduate Student Poster Session award certificate and monetary award
• Outstanding Undergraduate Student Technical Session award certificate and monetary award
• Outstanding Graduate Student Technical Session award certificate and monetary award
• Outstanding Cultural Competence Poster Session award certificate and monetary award
Honorable mention awards for other highly rated presentations awarded as deemed appropriate (certificates only, no monetary prize). Monetary prizes are split among co-presenters.
Criteria:
Nominees must be enrolled as an on-ground student studying speech-language-hearing sciences at an accredited university in Missouri. Students need to submit a call for papers submission to the MSHA Conference Planning Team (CPT) and be selected to present a poster session or technical seminar at the annual convention to qualify.
Selection Process:
Sessions are attended by a non-biased committee, selected by the MSHA CPT, who serve as judges to award the research poster and technical session awards.
