Description:
The purpose of the Leadership Academy is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students studying speech-language-hearing sciences in Missouri to develop leadership skills.
Goal:
To prepare groups of diverse student leaders to work cooperatively through leadership training and civic education in order to advance speech-language pathology and audiology services in Missouri.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to state their own strengths and understand other’s strengths, as they are applicable to daily personal and professional interactions as students.
2. Participants will be able to state how strengths might be utilized in a professional role upon graduation.
3. Participants will be able to identify the role of the state speech-language-hearing association and the benefits of membership.
4. Participants will be able to identify ways association members can support the professions.
Nomination Process:
Each university in Missouri with an on-ground Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology program is invited to nominate two on-ground students (one undergraduate and one graduate) for the Spring semester Leadership Academy. The nomination form can be found here:

Award:
• Two (2) Leadership Webinars
• One (1) In-person Conference
• MSHA Convention Registration – comped by MSHA
• Two-night hotel stay (one room per university pair, unless otherwise necessary)
• Certificate of Completion
Criteria:
The nominees must be enrolled as an on-ground undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university in the state of Missouri to participate. Students should be MSHA members.
Selection Process:
Nominated by the students university of enrollment for participation. All nominees are accepted by the Foundation (limited to 2 per eligible university) as stated above.
